Above K Beyond: Ruslan’s Commitment Shines in a Moment of Need at the Winnipeg Airport

Since joining ASP in June 2024, Ruslan has quietly built a reputation as one of our most dependable and compassionate team members. In just over a year, he has become a steady, reassuring presence — someone who not only performs his duties with excellence but consistently goes the extra mile to support others.

One recent Saturday, Ruslan once again demonstrated exactly why he’s such a valued member of the team.

While working his shift at Departures, arranging carts outside the terminal, he noticed a pregnant woman traveling with a young child. She was visibly overwhelmed by trying to manage three oversized suitcases and two heavy boxes. Without hesitation, Ruslan stepped in to assist. He carefully loaded her belongings onto a cart and personally escorted the family to the Calm Air check-in counter, offering reassuring, supportive guidance during what was clearly a stressful moment.

But the day had more in store — and Ruslan’s quick thinking was about to make an even greater impact.

Shortly after helping the woman, a taxi driver approached him near the terminal. The driver had a wallet that had been left behind in the cab. Initially, Ruslan directed the driver to the Information Booth. But something made him pause. Reflecting on the earlier encounter, he had a feeling the wallet might belong to the woman he had just helped!

Trusting his instincts, Ruslan accompanied the driver back to the check-in area — where they found the woman, now visibly distressed and rummaging through her bags in search of the missing item. The reunion was immediate

and emotional: relief washed over her face as she gratefully accepted the returned wallet and offered heartfelt thanks to both Ruslan and the driver.

This moment wasn’t just a lucky guess — it was a clear result of Ruslan’s attentiveness, empathy, and genuine care.

What sets Ruslan apart is more than his work ethic and reliability. It’s his natural instinct to help, his emotional intelligence, and his ability to read a situation and act without hesitation. Whether it’s assisting a struggling traveller, supporting a colleague, or being proactive when the terminal is busy, Ruslan leads by example.
