The First Line of Defense: Celebrating Our Baggage Drop Team
By Nataliya Zulqurnane, Operations Supervisor
Behind every bag that successfully makes its way through the airport is a team of people working hard to make sure the journey goes smoothly. They may not always be seen by passengers, but their work is an essential part of every passenger’s experience.
Our Baggage Drop Agent (BDA) team is one of the most important links between the passenger and the baggage system. Every day, our team makes sure bags are properly prepared to enter the system, with a strong focus on baggage hygiene and ensuring that every bag has the correct baggage tag.
When a bag is missing a tag or something doesn’t look right, our team doesn’t simply let it move forward. They stop, identify the issue, and make sure it is properly addressed. In many cases, this means the bag is returned to the passenger so the issue can be corrected before it continues its journey.
This attention to detail, responsibility, and commitment helps prevent problems further down the line.
Recognized by Our Client
The importance of this work was recently recognized by our client, the Winnipeg Airport Authority (WAA) Baggage Operations Center. Their feedback is a meaningful reminder that the attention and care our BDA team puts into their work every day makes a real difference to the operation and to our passengers.
“The BDA team’s attention to detail and quick response helped prevent bags from entering the system and potentially missing their flights. Their dedication and commitment to excellence make a tremendous difference in supporting smooth baggage operations. We greatly appreciate their outstanding teamwork and contribution.”
WAA Baggage Operations Center
This recognition reflects exactly what our Baggage team brings to the operation every day – awareness, accountability, teamwork, and a commitment to getting things right before a small issue becomes a bigger one.
But what truly makes our BDA team special is not only what they do – it’s how they do it.
Our team is incredibly flexible and always ready to step in when help is needed. They support one another, look out for each other, and understand that teamwork is what keeps our operation moving. When one person needs a hand, someone is always there to help. They adapt to changing situations, busy periods, and unexpected challenges without losing focus.
And although much of their work happens behind the scenes, our BDA team never forgets the people at the heart of everything we do – our passengers.
They take the time to answer questions, have conversations with passengers, and provide directions when someone needs help finding their way. Whether a passenger is looking for a check-in counter, baggage area, washroom, gate, or simply needs someone to point them in the right direction, our team is there.
They don’t ignore a passenger because they are busy. They stop, listen, and help – often with a smile.
That combination of hard work, teamwork, flexibility, and genuine care for passengers is what makes our BDA team stand out.
We are incredibly proud of the people who make up this team. Their work requires strength, attention to detail, patience, and constant awareness, but they bring something even more valuable to the operation: a willingness to help and a commitment to each other.
They are the people making sure bags keep moving, problems are caught before they become bigger issues, and passengers feel supported along the way.
Their work may happen behind the scenes, but their impact is everywhere.
To our BDA team – thank you for showing up, stepping up, supporting one another, and always putting your best foot forward. We are proud to have you on our team.
You are more than the people who move bags. You are an essential part of the passenger journey – and truly, our first line of defense.
