ICTS General Services, an ICTS Europe subsidiary in Spain, has recently won a new contract with Terminal Catalunya S.A.U, for the provision of security services at the Port of Barcelona.
This 2-year contract will see ICTS providing 24/7 control room monitoring, as well as access control and patrolling of the Hutchison Ports BEST Terminal, one of the most modern container terminals in the world.
“The Hutchison Ports BEST is a semi-automated terminal, with a very high productivity rate and expansion plans for the coming years. For many years now, ICTS has provided similar security services at the Ports of Malaga and Mallorca and is looking forward to supporting Terminal Catalunya S.A.U.’s business plans.
The award of this prestigious contract increases our presence at the Port of Barcelona, as we already secure Barcelona’s Cruise Port Terminal. Hutchison is a very welcome addition to our client portfolio, and we are proud to have been entrusted with this new contract,” said Ofer Barder, General Manager, ICTS General Services.
ACTS-Aviation Security has just commenced a brand-new contract with Dallas- based Southwest Airlines for the provision of catering inspection services of crew meals at Florida’s Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale International Airports.

With the ongoing development of a federal canine explosives detection program for air cargo, Transport Canada facilitated two weeks of canine trials at express shipping facilities at Pearson Airport in June, with the assistance of ASP Canine Unit members.
Our handlers were heavily relied on to assist with the management of the explosives training aids, and with working our dogs through the test areas in order to collect data to assist with the development of test procedures. Trial searches were set up in FedEx and UPS facilities to replicate the conditions the dogs would be expected to search in once federal regulations have been formalized.
ASP Canine Unit members were very well represented and our dog teams performed very well. Our members took the opportunity to showcase our dogs, as well as network with various representatives from express shipping companies and dog teams sent from Los Angeles and Las Vegas to participate.
ASP Canine will continue to be actively involved and play an important role in the creation of the federal EDDHT program with Transport Canada over the next 18 months or so that the program is expected to be under development.

We had a fantastic turnout for our Summer Town Hall!
It was such a pleasure to have hosted my first Town Hall for the OSR team on June 22nd, 2019. I am truly grateful for all the great feedback, questions and suggestions that came out of this session

To whom it may
concern,
This letter is
to thank the security staff that assisted my husband and I on February 6th. The
weather was terrible that day, which I imagine makes everyone’s job at the
airport more difficult. My husband and I got separated and he suffered a
seizure. After assessments from EMS, we decided to proceed home. I was so
grateful to the staff, especially your Terminal 3 security supervisor Reyaz
Prahalad. He personally escorted us to another terminal so we could catch a
Greyhound home, as our flight was delayed. His compassion and kindness went
above and beyond what I would expect from anyone.
Sincerely, Nicky Kozoriz
Reyaz Prahalad

Elizabeth Warwick, our new Quality Assurance Manager, delivered our first ASP dispatch course on June 3rd.
I’m happy to report all three highly qualified participants are
doing very well under Beth’s guidance.
Elizabeth is not only delivering the course, but has built it from ground up, slide by slide, including all 520 slides, as well as a full course facilitator guide, activities, job aids and exams/quizzes.
I am very proud of Elizabeth’s progress at ASP in her very short tenure at ASP!

With weather that was a little chilly, our Calgary Stampede breakfast turned into a great success.
Individuals started lining up at 7:45 in the morning and the line remained until 9:30 a.m.
Over 400 Calgary International Airport employees attended the breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. It was a fun-filled day and the team building we achieved is an even bigger success.

YYC held a very successful job fair on May 23rd at Calgary International Airport (YYC).
We had over 96 potential candidates show up for interviews and orientation, which was quite an experience for all of us.
Kudos to Maria Kalomiris, our HR coordinator, for putting this together, and Elizabeth Warwick, our quality assurance manager, for helping in the interview process. Having that many candidates show up was a challenge with several takeaways to be implemented prior to the next job fair.
Overall, it was fun and a success!

Summer has arrived, and, as usual, our services are in high demand at all locations. Our clients depend on ASP to be prepared to support their facilities with the various services that we provide.
Whether you are working in a security or customer service role, it is important for all of us to complement our clients core businesses and ensure safe, secure and efficient customer focused services.
Throughout the spring, we have been recruiting at all of our locations to make sure that we have the resources available and trained to meet the anticipated demand. Every employee plays a key role in contributing to our success.
I wrote about the importance of teamwork in the last newsletter and I think we have great teams throughout the organization that support each other daily.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your daily efforts in making ASP a successful service provider.
I hope everyone has some time this summer to enjoy with family and friends.
Work safe and chat soon,
Jim

I wanted to take this
opportunity to welcome Doug McBride to the team as the new Service Delivery Manager

Doug has spent the majority of his career within the security industry, working in various roles. He has worked for organizations such as IBM in a corporate security environment as well as the contract industry in senior management roles. With Doug’s almost 30 years of experience, he brings a level of professionalism that will allow our team to continue to learn and advance the division’s skill set.
I also wanted to welcome Richard Haldane to the team as a member of the divisional recruitment team.
Left to right: Doug, Nirushika, and Richard
Richard comes to us with a background that specializes in recruiting
and people management. He has worked in the recruitment industry for more than
10 years, which includes working as a specialized consultant. Richard also
possesses a Ph. D. in Psychology, which allows him to truly understand people
on a much deeper level. I am looking forward to Richard’s experience lifting us
to the next level.
Last but not least, I would also like to welcome Nirushika
Sethulingam to our division as a member of the administrative team.
Nirushika is a very ambitious and driven person with a strong
